Celebrating 6 years of Friendship in our Neighborhood!
Welcome to our neighbors and new members. If you missed the potluck, you missed Dorothy’s Coconut cake and Dawn Lauren’s chicken & dumplings. YUMMY!
Saturday Sept 10th from 8am-2pm is our 7th Annual Cleanup. If you can help please let BOB know. We’ve had a request for help and probably will get a couple more. But, typically a couple people sit and watch the cars come into the lot, make sure they are from the neighborhood, give out some info and answer any questions. Other Volunteers who would like to help cleanup, go with Bob & load up on our trailer the junk and bring it back. We WILL help members, and the elderly & disabled. We do like to have lunch for the volunteers about noon. If you can provide tea or lunch, let Lydia or Arlene know. (676 4068). Over 40 tons of junk have been removed from our neighborhood the past 6 yrs!
Oct 4th is National Night out. There will be an event for neighborhoods at Thomas Elementary on ES11th that evening by Abilene Police Dept. it would be great if we wore our Tshirts and asked for help in our neighborhood. Last year only a handful of people attended the city wide event and if we go, it shows we care about our neighborhood.
we hope to see you at our next meeting, scheduled for Oct. 15th at 10 a.m. (this is a Saturday morning). We would like to have this at Friendship Park (417 Meander) and discuss a possible playground. It was suggested that we try an occasional Saturday meeting. We’ll have DONUTS & Juice. (if it rains we’ll be back here)
we are seeking volunteers for Officers! Currently we have no secretary! If you would like to help, please let me know.
And Remember! If you see a new neighbor move in let Lydia know, we’ll drop off a welcome bag and invite them to a meeting.
And, Shining Star has asked if the neighborhood would like to participate in a Trunk or Treat Oct 31. Please plan on helping to give our kids a safe place to trick or treat that evening. It’ll be from 7-9 in their parking lot.
Thanks everyone for coming. See you next month! Please call if you have ANY questions, Lydia (Pres) 676 4068 or Arlene (VP) 673 1979! Remember to check our FaceBook Page or Webpage for updates. Have a safe Labor Day weekend.
