Problems with Amber Hill Rd

We are having problems with our road (which is private, thus not maintained by any level of government) eroding.  It is time for us to take action and seek out viable solutions, and we are currently sharing ideas on which action or actions to take.  Rent a tractor?  Buy a tractor?  Pay someone to fix it?  Pay someone to fix it, and then try to cede it to the County?  These are options that we are looking into.  We need to get this taken care of so that we can continue to enjoy our beautiful, garden-like neighborhood.

 The culvert that was originally under the road over time filled up with clay, and this has caused the water to begin crossing the road and dig channels into it.  We have fixed it several times with a farm-tractor that we borrowed, but the owner of the tractor no longer owns it.

 I took this picture after several days of heavy rain.  This is something we really need to deal with -- the sooner the better.

   2014 has been a big turn-around year for our road.  Since January, we have dumped 4 loads of gravel on the road (from tri-axle dump-trucks), and worked on the road with Merve's tractor (several of the neighbors are friends with him).  Here is a picture of the main hill now:

Since we started putting gravel on it at the beginning of 2014, we no longer dread rainy days, as the road remains in good condition.  Maintaining such a road is a never-ending process, of course, but we have made great progress, and there is room for optimism that we will be able to stay on top of it now that we know how to tend to it.
