In the March 10 meeting of WPHOA, the five election candidates were inducted into the Association, and elections to officer positions were conducted. Allan Gibson was elected President, George Freiberger was elected Vice-President, Alan Campbell was elected Treasurer, Helen Kline was elected Secretary and Chris Corrow was elected as Board Member.
Chris Corrow will chair the Pool Committee. Chris has contracted for a new pool maintenance contractor and worked hard to get the pool open on April 26th this year.
Due to Alan Campbell’s resignation this month, Chris was elected Treasurer and Chairperson of the Communications Committee by the board; this now leaves a vacant board seat which we are actively recruiting for. Chris plans to have our first 2003 newsletter out in early July and has recently recruited two members of our community to take over the efforts with regard to our Web Site, Ron Sklamm and Charlie Fisher, Chris and Allan will meet with them during the first week of June to offer direction and solicit input for the updated Web Site.
Chris is also spearheading our efforts to address signage and speeding issues. After working with city engineers and contractor advisors, Chris is now negotiating a contract to add additional appropriate traffic and address signs to Windward Pointe. If you have any input for Chris, you can email him at WPHOATRES@aol.com.
Erin Freedman will chair the Events Committee. Erin is planning spring and summer social events for the residents. If you have any ideas for Erin, or would like to help, please contact her at WPHOACOMMITTEES@aol.com
George Freiberger will chair the Architectural Control Committee and the Landscape Committee. George recently completed a community walkthrough with Crabapple (our landscaping contractor) and CCM to review current and future needs. All deficiencies were noted and Crabapple was instructed to remedy them; in addition George was able to sign our contract for the remainder of 2003 at a significant discount over the 2002 contract. If you have any input for George, please contact him at WPHOAVPRES30004@aol.com
Helen Kline will chair the Welcome Committee, ensuring that new residents get helpful information regarding the Community. Helen is preparing a welcome package to the community. If you have moved into Windward Pointe this year, you may want to contact Helen to get one. Helen can be reached at WPHOASEC30004@aol.com.
Allan Gibson is currently investigating the possible desire to limit investor-owner units and subsequent rentals. Conversations have been held with other townhome communities to determine what actions they have been able to take. A future article will outline pros and cons, and a homeowner survey on this subject will be sent out in the next few weeks. Allan can be contacted at WPHOAPRES30004@aol.com
The Board looks forward to working with homeowners and residents to ensure Windward Pointe becomes the community you want it to be. Other issues discussed:
Speeding seems to be a big issue in the neighborhood.
School buses are causing excessive wear and tear on the roads, not to mention the noise.
