Winn Park/Capitol Avenue Neighborhood Association

Over a year has passed since we began meeting with the St. Francis Parish in regards to its steps ministry. We have reached a tentative agreement, embraced by both the parish, immediate neighbors and the neighborhood association. The agreement will allow the church to continue administering to their guests in the santuray of their administrative building's courtyard. An auwning structure will be constructed along the north facing wall of the building which will allow for protection from the elements. The building is being remodeled to allow for access to the restrooms while keeping the rest of the structure locked, and creating an area for a supervisor to be present all night long. The parish realizes they will only be able to administer to 20-25
people max. The ''steps'' will no longer be available for people to gather/sleep upon.Please realize that this has been a long thoughtful process, hopefully healing a rift between the church and the community and yeilding a better neighborhood.
