Minutes for Homeowners Annual Meeting - June 4, 2006

?· Meeting was called to order at 3:20 p.m. by David Wakefield, President
?· Herman Stephens introduced E C Jones, City Councilman.
?· E C Jones talked about the upcoming city budget meeting and said the budget will be approved. He reported that the city has no money in the budget and there will be cuts made. He was asked about the boxing match and the recall drive of the mayor. Mayor Herenton may fight Joe Frazier later this year and the proceeds will go to the Lemoyne-Owen College. E C Jones reported that the recall issue is dead. Thaddeus Matthew?’s failed to get the required 65,000 signatures needed to have the recall issue put on the November ballot. He talked about the Charter Committee the people will elect in November to take a look at the city charter. This committee will consist of a group of concerned citizens not politicians.
?· David Wakefield, President introduce himself. He thanked E C Jones for coming. He also thanks the homeowners for taking time out to attend the meeting.
?· Patty Namias, Secretary read the minutes from the 2005 annual homeowners meeting. Sandy Gross made the motion to approve minutes, Charles Moody 2nd, motion was carried.
?· Charles Moody, Treasurer, gave treasury report. A copy can be obtained through any board member. Reported that the board voted on keeping Tru-Green for front entrance care.
?· Johnny Pittman asked about changing covenants making dues mandatory and if not paid put a lien on home. It was explained that this was tried several years ago and failed. It is believed that all of the homeowners would have to agree with the change.
?· Herman thanked everyone for their support with the back gate. The question was asked about the Bond home in the front of the neighborhood. Herman informed the attendees that the house was suppose to have gone to auction in May. Herman said he would find out more information and let everyone know.
?· Charles asked for help with the back gate. Ask people to please go slow through the gate so that the sensors would not wear out as fast. Patty also asked for help in not giving remotes to delivery trucks and buses.
?· Audrey Kalbach gave an update on the Friendship Committee. She explained the purpose of the committee and asked for volunteers to help in welcome new neighbors.
?· Patsy Mayer asked about the speed bumps. David Wakefield gave an update. The signatures needed were collected and Herman personally took them down to planning office and was told that some time this summer they would be put in.
?· David told everyone the next thing we were looking to improve is the street signs. It was agreed by all, that a more decorative sign would improve the curb appeal of the neighborhood. He asked for help with suggestions on a style.
?· David made a motion for new business. None were made.
?· Asked for nominations for offices or board, Carol Ann Burns nominated Kim Lowe for the board, Patty 2nd, all agreed.
?· Dr. Caldwell asked about the pedestrian gate. Herman said the lock had been damaged due to abuse and there is no plan to put it back on. The board has been receiving complaints about some of the people and times they were using the gates. A suggestion was made to look into putting a security light and camera on the gate.
?· Herman Stephens explained the ?“No Soliciting?” signs were posted at the front and rear entrances of the neighborhood. The board had received complaints from homeowners about solicitors being intrusive and overly bold. Herman told everyone to please take caution with anyone that comes to their door selling or saying they are there to service something. He reported that a city official stated that with the sign being posted homeowners could call the police on unwanted solicitors.
?· Sandy Gross voiced her concern about the loose dogs in the neighborhood. She asked about the leash law and what the procedure is and who to call for help. Phillip Snyder, Director of Memphis Animal Services, a Woodchase homeowner said to call him if you are having a problem with a loose dog in the neighborhood. Faye Crutcher asked if there was any place to walk dogs, she was told about Shelby Farms.
?· David asked the new neighbors to introduce themselves and say where they live. He welcomed them all to the neighborhood and told them if they need anything or have a question to please let us know.
?· David asked for a motion to close the meeting, Charles 2nd, motion carried.
?· Meeting ended at 4:10 p.m.
