Woodlake Neighborhood Association

Has anyone noticed that in the evening, if the winds is in the S or SE, that there is a strong smell of raw sewage in woodlake. Does anyone have any idea where this could be comming from? Has anyone reported this problem. Thanks.

Bad odor

Yes, the smell has been dreadful. I contacted Commissioner Adkinssons office and Mario left me a voice mail last week that he had been contacted by someone earlier and they had investigated the problem. It seems that New Earth out on 10 is composting and because of the heat and some sort of pools, in the evening when the ceiling raises the smells travel up to 15 miles. Anyway he said that it was being worked on and that within the next 30-45 days it should be corrected. Hope that helps.

rotten smells

Yes it was reported to Tommy Adkisson our County Commissioner who promptly replied with info regard the BFI landfill off of Ft 10. He is trying to stop this expansion. At first we thought that was were the smell was coming from but a few days latter his assistant, Mario, called to say that the smell was coming from a compose company located near China Grove by the name of New Earth or something like that. At this point I don't know what steps have been taken to control the smell. If it continues, we will have to get together to see what can be done. Any suggestions?

There is also a waste treatment plant behind our neighborhood. Over on Binz-Engleman. It is terrible. My bus passes it in the morning on the way to the high school and it is just an unbearable smell. It is sick!!!!
