Woodlake

President's Message

Jan 20, 2008

Welcome back neighbors! I sure hope 2008 has started off well for all of you. at least we can say that we don't have any drought concerns...for the time being!

It's hard to believe the Christmas season is now over, but there still remains a holiday administrative detail that needs to be discussed: the winners of Woodlake annual Christmas Lighting Contest! this year's winners are the following:

The Kerth family on Southgate
The Kingsley-Blissa family on Southgate
The Cross family on Garden, and
The Moore's on Southgate

Thanks to all of you for working hard to maintain Woodlake's festive environment during the holiday season!

Speaking of the 2007 holiday season, I also want to thank the Slobes for hosting a nice holiday open house for the neighborhood. What a great opportunity it was for Woodlake neighbors to come together socially during this special time of the year. thanks again, Bob and Kim.

New Year's in Woodlake started off a bit troubling as three houses were broken into on New Year's Day. Luckily, due to the rapid police contact made by a few neighbors, the young thieves were caught and the stolen property returned. If you haven't done so already, please program the Police (7 digit) Emergency number 732-0100 into your cell phones. You never know when you will need to report suspicious activity witnessed in the neighborhood.

As most of you know by now, Zigatos Restaurant has left the neighborhood and found a home in another part of the city. We wish Steve Zeigler well with his new venture and certainly appreciate all of the support he has given the WNA over the past year and a half. This move doesn't mean he's off the hook for providing the hot dogs on the 4th of July, however.

Please remember that for the next few months, WNA meetings will be held at the Radisson Hotel beginning at 6:30p.m. The Radisson management is very generous to accommodate us and the environment there is quite agreeable. (Look for their "2 for 1" dinner coupon in this issue!) I hope to see a lot of new faces at our 2008 meetings!

Stay safe in these stormy times, and by all means watch out for falling trees!

Gary
