Neighborhood Events

?• Neighborhood Watch information meeting: Our Beat Officer, Derrick Hopkins will
conduct an informal meeting at the clubhouse Monday, March 24 at 7 p.m. He will discuss how we can best protect our families, homes, and neighborhood against crime through neighborhood watch. Refreshments will be served. Call Donna, 329-1699 should you need further information. We will re-introduce and revamp our watch program, including additional volunteers to serve as Block Captains. The success of this important endeavor depends on volunteerism and the understanding of the needs. Info can also be found on our website (below). This should be a short meeting, but bring a folding chair with you to the clubhouse.

?• May Community Garage Sale: Saturday, May 17, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. rain or shine.
Advertisement will be placed in The Norman Transcript on Fri/Sat, May 16 and 17. Signs will be placed in our common area along Porter and at the corners of Porter and Rock Creek Rd. Each homeowner participating is encouraged to get a $10 city garage sale permit. They may be purchased either at the city officers or The Transcript office. This is a fabulous way to make a few bucks and clean out that attic, garages or storage building. Call Donna, 329-1699 for additional information.

?• Yard of the Month: May and through July. The members of The Cleveland County Master
Gardeners Association will again judge each eligible yard. Eligibility is based on being current with annual dues. The homeowners currently serving as board members are not eligible. Call Donna with any questions.

?• Children?’s costume party coordinator needed: There are a number of people willing to help\
that person in making the party fun for the children as well as adults. The event is usually in October on a Saturday evening when a Sooner home game is not scheduled. Call Donna, 329-1699 for information.

Neighborhood News / Issues

?• Fence Repairs: Our aging fences continue to wobble and shake and blow down and break in
the Oklahoma winds and weather. Please remember the importance for visible fence repairs, driven by the need to maintain the aesthetic beauty and home valuation of Woodlake Estates. If your fence is visible from the street or from the common areas, our Covenants and Bylaws require it to be continually maintained and replaced if needed. For references, please contact the Board, and if you have a reference, good or bad, let us hear from you! Also, communicate with your neighbors on cost-sharing and timing of repairs between yards!

?• Pool and Clubhouse: Deb Carlson has been working hard to get the pool in shape and ready
for the approaching season. When you see Deb (and Norm) working at the pool, offer a hand or at least a kind word! Please keep abreast of any new signs in the pool area and subsequent notices. Also, when using the bathrooms, remember that your help is needed to keep them clean. We thank the four volunteers who have insured a safe and clean experience when using our facilities, and would like to have more volunteers to help spread out the monitoring.

Miscellaneous

?• Tree Limbs: Although most damaged limbs in our common areas have been dealt with,
there are still a few which dangle precariously high in a few trees in the pond area. These trees are marked with yellow caution tape, and we wish to remind folks to be aware when playing or walking below them.

?• Thanks to our new and recent volunteers: We would like to thank the following volunteers
for helping this Association with some important issues:
Barbara Wilson and Kate Stanton: Woodlake Welcome Committee
Doug Hersey and Jason Dedmon: Fountain maintenance and beautification.
New Block Captains....To be announced.

?• 2008 Neighborhood Directory: Doreen is working to complete the updates for the 2008
community directory and would like to ask anyone with new or updated information (such as children?’s birthdays, new phone contacts, e-mail addresses, etc.) to submit them ASAP by e-mail or by phone to 366-6020.
