We do not discriminate against pets and pet-owners in this community. None of our pet-restrictions will be hard to follow by a caring and conscientious pet-owner.
We simply require logical, common-sense adherance to our desire for maintaining a relatively quiet atmosphere while being able to walk the neighborhood without finding the 'leavings' of pet dogs, cats, iguanas or kangaroos.
In the case of a dispute, complaints should be lodged with and by the parties involved, followed by contacting the Board, if necessary.
Any problematic restriction, perceived or otherwise, which is not spelled out in our 'Covenants and Restrictions' or in our 'Bylaws' will be resolved as a last resort, by community vote.
Nobody likes constant barking in ANY city neigborhood. Folks should however, try to to be reasonable and communicate. If a dog barks more than occasionally, and at things other than closely-passing people, intruders or wildlife, it can be a nuisance. There are many potential fixes to keep a dog more quiet; such as keeping it happy. There are proven techniques to help ensure dogs enjoy their surroundings...a bit more quietly.
If a dog does more than just let out an occasional round of barking, one way to handle it is to tell your neighbor(s) the dog’s name, so they can become somewhat friendly. A friendly dog can usually be quieted by using it’s name and being kind to it, even from across the fence.
Another potential problem is excessive barking by closely neighboring dogs. Such barking might be just exchanging grievances, which can certainly become a nuisance. One fix we would like to work on is to try to get dogs and their respective owners to all meet, so that natural canine curiosity is quelled a bit through being allowed to (safely) meet a neighboring dog; (who knows, you may find a willing dog-sitting friend). Allowing dogs to 'meet' should only be done with two leashed and fully controlled dogs...in NEUTRAL SURROUNDINGS, so neither feels stressed.
Dogs love to be walked. Most people love to see a well-behaved dog making the rounds with it's owners. However, nobody likes to clean up a mess left by anyone but their own dog. A plastic bag should be standard dog-walking equipment to a conscientious owner. Thanks for keeping Woodlake free of unsolicited packages!
