Children at Play

Posted in: Woodland Oaks

I think we need to make a better effort to slow down on our streets, especially the side streets where homes & driveways are accessed.

On upper end of Poplar Grove, we have at least 4 homes with children who play in the street on the weekends.  I'm sure there are many other streets in this same situation, so we should all be aware of our speed so no fatal accidents occur.

I know a lot of the newer subdivisions have been putting speed bumps throughout....

maybe we should push for that!

I can tell you for a fact that speed bumps don't work, they just piss people off. We would be better off working with the city of Schertz to make the whole neighborhood a 20 mph speed limit. And posting signs in the entry/exit points "NEIGHBORHOOD SPEED 20 MPH!

I just moved here and they tried speed bumps in my previous neighborhood and people just went faster over the bumps. Posting 20 mph throughout the neighborhood will work and it's enforceable.

I live on the lower end of Dimrock.  Since they opened up the connection to Mesa Oaks, the traffic has increased as well as the speed of vehicles going up/down the street.  As of today, there isn't a speed limit sign as you turn from Oak Valley to come up Dimrock.  I mentioned this to our President which he said he would address it with the city.  So, I guess people figure they can go as fast as they want to.  As a side note, the posted 20 MPH sign up the street doesn't help anyway.  The drivers still speed coming down from Cotton King.  Before the lower end opened. only people who lived at the end of Dimrock traveled down this way and drove slowly.
