Meetings and telephone conversations with the HOA board and Faith Property Management have been unresponsive to us. (Doug and Pattie Orme at 4008 Mesa Verde Street). Therefore, we are appealing to members of our association for immediate action.
In 1996 the eastern area of what became Woodland Park was a dump used by a farm with a twenty foot deep cravase and the worst of weeds. The builder promised that it would be excavated and landscaped.
Before anything was done, Richland Homes purchased all of the remaining undeveloped land. The decision at that time was to let the area remain in its horrible condition with no improvements. We (Doug and Pattie Orme) attempted to purchase the area or to lease it. City requirements for a required amount of open space did not allow that. Therefore, we and our neighbors, Bob and Sue Pawalak, reached an agreement with the association that we could improve and care for the area as we desired if it was at no expence to the Association.
We had the area excavated, installed sprinklers, planted the sod, purchased all of the trees, bushes, etc, etc. For more than twenty years, 90% of the care, weeding, watering of the area has been done by Pattie. Other than paying for water the last few years, all of the expence and labor has been done at no expence to the association and has been paid for by the Orme's and Pawlak's.
Pattie and I are in our eighties. Arhtritus, a major heart attack, and many of the maladies that come with aging have made us unable to continue to care for what needs to be done.
Our plea is that the HOA will assume all of the necessary work required to keep "The Secret Garden" cared for as well as Pattie has done.
Sincerely, Captain Douglas Orme, USNR, Retired
