Wow! I wish I could have attended the council meeting this evening! I could have given my support to the residents that live on Beechwood Road regarding the trees between them and Orchid Place that the council voted to remove tonight. That's right, all the way to Westport Road! And to the tune of some $20,000(+ or -). I believe this does also include some kind of landscaping which can never replace those trees that have been a beautiful part of Woodlawn Park long before Orchid Place. If some are diseased then remove them. But all of them? Come on! And that much money? Is this the beginning of taking all trees down along all the city easements in the park?! I could have moved to a brand new subdivision with no trees but I chose Woodlawn Park for it's beautiful trees and greenery!
WOW !!!

There is money to do that but we cant get a noise ordinance pasted or put street lights in where its to dark !!!!!
Bravo, Connie Watson

Couldn't have said it better. I had intended to attend this meeting, but remembered past ones in which resident concerns (mine and others) weren't taken seriously. In a project this costly, and beauty-threatening, details should have been distributed to all residents before the meeting, but our elected (and paid) Council members, who are supposed to represent our interests, show little or no tendency to do so. Couldn't we have a real debate on the subject before proceeding? Perhaps a better idea would emerge
VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE VOTE!

I too am very disapointed with the outcome of the most recent council meeting regarding the trees on Beechwood Road. No one was aware that a vote would take place that night with limitted discussion and much less evidence to support the need to have a MASS removal of the tree line. And even still a plan for the landscaping that would follow has not been submitted or approved, much less discussed personally with the residents of Beechwood Road/Orchid Place. Aren't we the ones directly affected by this! And who are we kidding to think that this job could get adequately done for $20,000!? What will $8,000 do for re-landscaping of over a FOOTBALL FIELD AND A HALF of tree line! I am very disappointed with such a sloppy vote and I am disappointed that a vote was ''snuck in'' on the agenda. This issue of such magnitude is one that written evidence and facts should have been presented, discussion held, and more detailed plans for the propsed aftermath available with a vote at next month's council meeting following (if all information was even available at that time)! My trust in the mayor and some of the council memebers and the respect for the procedure of these council meetins has certainly be jolted.
