The City of Columbus purchased a 40 acre tract immediately east of McCord Middle School to be developed as a park. Conceptually, the park will be accessed from an entrance on the far east side of the property on a widened Hard Road with bike lanes, a walking path from McCord Middle School and a pedestrian path from a Worthington Hills stub street. The park should have at least 100 parking spaces. A Columbus Recreation and Parks conceptual rendering shows natural areas being left ''as is'' and flat farmland being developed with recreational amenities. The conceptual plan also shows a playground, outdoor tennis and basketball courts, a shelter house, baseball/softball diamond and a walking path encircling the whole property. A 30,000 square foot $5 million recreation center is also depicted. This is all conceptual at this point in time, what recreational types would you like to see on the property?

Neighbors are excited by the prospect of this park.  Some folks at WKHS have indicated they would like to work on paths for the cross country teams to practice, particularly because of the beautiful natural ravine available there.

A swimming pool would be a nice addition for both youngsters learning to swim as well as providing jobs for area teenagers as lifeguards and healthful and low-impact exercise for adults.  Now's the time to make an addition like an indoor swimming pool .. before the plans are too far down the road and the building is built.
