Hey All,

If you have been down Pelham Dr. you have probably noticed the blue crosses on all the street trees.  This is a marker used to identify trees for desctruction.  In this case, all of these ash trees are infested with emerald ash borror.  There is nothing that can be done for these trees now, but if you have an ash in your side or back yard that you want to protect, an arborist can easily do so.  I got permission from the city to treat my street tree and also am treating two others in my back yard.  The person I'm using is Elliott Schaffe with Environmental Horticultural Services.  He said he would offer a special price for community members.  The service isn't expensive for saving an important shade tree in the backyard.  His number is 614-668-2026.  Hope this helps,

Todd Holtzlander

The ash trees at the entranceways are infested but haven't been marked for removal.   Should I call the city?   They're on private property but I'm concerned about the spread.

If it's private property, then the property owner is responsible.  I can help you take them down if you need help (I have a chain saw).  Also, the main Wortington Highlands website is on yahoo.com.  If you want the most recent neighborhoos new, go there and register.  It will get on the email list for all news from the community
