This new 36,000 sq. ft. rowing facility was completed in 1997. The building is the largest and best equipped in the continental U.S. The facility contains a fully equipped weight room, an ergometer room, mens and womens shower and locker rooms, an indoor rowing tank room and a coaches room. It has five huge shell storage bays capable of holding well over 100 rowing shells. It has a 40ft.x 100ft. shell workshop and a large facility maintenance room.
The second floor of the facility contains a large meeting room used for club meetings and for club and high school activities, a conference room available for use by sports groups and non-profit civic groups, the club office and storage areas. Next to the meeting room is a 40ft.x 60ft. outdoor patio and a 20x60ft. varanda for viewing river activities. The W.B.C. does not rent its facility.
This 1.8 million dollar project became a reality through the support of the members of the W.B.C., The City of Wyandotte, BASF Corp, William E. Kreger, Hienz Prechter/Heritage Fund, Charter National Bank, Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, Crysler Corp.,and many more donors throughout the Downriver communities.
