Hate?
I don`t think people hate the Church. Its the pedofiles in the Church. Iam retired and all my life I would of never of guessed this was happening Ive heard stories of priest and nuns but considered them mean jokes. any way you look at it its terrible Jim

Dirty Deeds
I'm certain the numbers reported are much lower than the actual number of incidents and victims there really are. Many victims live their entire lives in silence.
The only reason that the church is ''finally'' showing efforts to correct such heinous 'crimes by priests' is because of the advancement in technology allowing media and the ease to transmit information in the masses to the masses.
It's much more difficult today than it ever has been in history to 'keep a secret'.
But let's be realistic here. You're a man, I'm assuming heterosexual, does it make sense to you, that a 'normal' heterosexual man can give up sex? No, it doesn't! It isn't normal. And it isn't healthy either. So what kind of man would choose a life of celibacy? Someone who isn't 'right'. And we end up trusting our children with this type of person.

Did you know???
That 99% of priests are heterosexual?
That the 1% of homosexually oriented priests live a chaste, celibate life according to God's word?
That all those priests accused of the atrocities against young men (NOT pedophiles who look to prepubescent children) are age 55+?
That priests give up marriage and a sexual life as a GIFT? That they WANT to do this?
It is the lower nature of humankind that has carnal desires. We all have them. It is only by grace that we rise to our higher being. Of course, I expect to be majorly flamed by those out there who think that every child molester in the world is a priest. {insert roll eyes smiley here} Those are obviously the people who have never known a priest or nun on a personal level.
