better yet

Maybe we could get rid of the tags completely and let the residents throw out thier trash instead of saving it for free trash day.

So it is TAX !!

It has been denied by almost every supporter of the stupid tag program that it is indeed a tax. Now an admitted employee of the governmental agency involved in taxation has admitted the tags are a TAX. That being said the city should treat it as auch and let us pay our taxes in an honarable and legal way. The truth is we are already paying taxes to support having trash collection. If it does not meet the expectations, raise our taxes. The tag program is above and beyond this tax. I thought there was a revolution to prevent TAXATION without representation.

Do you realize how stupid this city looks when they stated to the public; we sell green tags for trash collection to balance our city budget.

Exactly right

There shouldn't be any such thing as trash tags. It's rediculous!!! How about selling raffle tickets to support trash collection. The winners get free trash pick up for a year!!!! Or, bingo night!! Or Las Vegas night. Or better yet. Guess how many people are going to stay in town over the next ten years. Winner gets to shut of the electric company. Oh, I forgot it is already off.

Who Said It Was a Tax?

I reread all the postings and I didn't see where I or any other governmental employee said the second tag or even the first tag was an additional tax. I did say that this city has a small tax levy dedicated to or for the purpose of paying for trash removal. That levy is above and beyond the normal tax levy of the city to pay for general city services such as police, fire, DPS etc.

You could possibly say that limiting every citizen to one or two tags and making them pay for the extra tags is an increase in taxes, but you would be proved wrong by the results of a recent court challenge to our system. In that case it was ruled that the limiting of a specific number of cans and then charging extra for the excess cans was not an illegal tax increase because the already levied tax did not provide enough funds for unlimited trash pick-up. Hope that clarifies something that I am sure this poster will still not be happy about.

At the cool cities meeting on Thursday, I ran into a young resident who liked bag & tag and thought that it made Wyandotte unique which is one of the basic principles that could assist in the process of Wyandotte being a cool city to visit and to live in. Just a different way of thinking about B&T.
