Teachers retiring

Posted in: Wyandotte
I read three teachers that I had as a child as retiring this year,

Mr Klatt, I had him for 8th grade science and my son also had him, he was a bit long winded but a good guy and a effective teacher,

Mr Storms, I had him in the 5th grade at Monroe school, it was his 1st year as a teacher, I remember us kids having a party for him because he was getting married, he was touched to the point of tears, Me and another classmate visited him a few times at his home, we just dropped in to see if we could get out of some math the next day, He said he'd see what he could do, well he gave us the math the next day but didn't the day after that. He was a great teacher,5th and 6th grade split class. I was a 6th grader. Got my first girl friend that year on the bus back from camp, I dated her on and off every year after that till we graduated.

Mr Baumstark, Good old Mr. B. He was one of my youngest teacher, he could of fit in on the old tv show ''Room 222'' anybody remember that show. He was super cool and has a very even hand, I had him for english in 8th or 9th grade and he was also my football coach along with Mr Lapoint. I think I will pay a visit to Mr B and Mr Storms, Just to tell them thanks. KT

I had Mr. Baumstark last year (my sophmore year)He was definatly my favorite teacher of the semester, even now when ever im bored between classes ill stop in and joke around with him for a few minutes. I'm gonna miss him after he retires.
Teachers

I didn't have Mr. Baumstark but I remember my friends and siblings talking about how well they liked him.

Isn't it sad when you hear of a favorite teacher retiring? You just know what a lose that is for future kids.

Mr. Tear(who retied a couple years ago) was one of my favorites from Wilson. My son was fortunate enough to have him at Roosevelt just before he retired.

Mr. Smith was a fav. Mr. Boller, Mr. Grahl, Ms Lindsay, Ms Baker(the Librarian).

There's a couple teacher's from my elementary years, I've always wondered where they were today. I went to Jefferson in the 70's. Mrs. Sonnenberg(sp?) was a great 3rd grade teacher. Then for 5th grade we had Miss Hughes. She always did unique things with us. I learned to speak spanish in her class. We had a new student, his name was George Bush(I remember the name so well because I has a huge crush on him)his family I believe was from Mexico. So every morning after we said the pledge of the legion, she took 5 minutes of the class time to let him teach us the basics.

Then in Wilson I had Mrs. Gorman for English. I'm terrible in English, but in her class she gave you credit for trying, that in turn gave me more confidence to learn and do well. I later had her as a sex-ed teacher at RHS. Again, there were things she taught that have helped me all through my life and I appreciate it that I had the privilege to be one of her students.
