The Treasurer's Report showed a balance of $35,925.39 as of August 24, including a credit for our water bill when our sprinklers were not working.
The Minutes for August were not available.
Old Business:
The flags will be put up along National Turnpike by Mark and Bob.
Fences - Gerald Ford is repairing the fences. Tim is to contact Raatz Fencing to go ahead and put residential grade chain link across the west side of the back lake. Our new budget will reflect the plan we've made to repair 1/3 of the fence each year.
Resignation - Dennis Hamilton has resigned from the Board with one year remaining in his term. Alternate Martin Rothman has agreed to take Dennis's place.
Muskrats = Martin and Carol will be contacting the people who will be trapping and removing the muskrats from the front lake at a cost of $45 per muskrat.
Crime Report = Officer John Leonard was unable to attend this meeting, but he did give the crime report for our subdivision to Charles. Five incidents have been reported in the last 30 days: three arrests for drugs; a break-in and robbery of a house; a break-in and robbery of a van. Suspicious activity can be reported to Officer Leonard at 645-7888.
Winn Dixie concrete debris for the lake - Martin checked on this and WD has already promised this for filling holes at other places. He did report that Faulkner Construction Co. (Eddie Riggs at 976-3491) agrees to deliver extra dirt to the lake - spreading would be up to us.
Wall lights - Tim will take care of getting the vandal-resistant lights for both entrances.
Don Faulkner reports that the railroad will not put fence up along the tracks beside our neighborhood, but they will post No Trespassing signs and step up security patrols along the track. He also brought information on how to get rid of muskrats. He also contacted MSD who agreed to clean out the debris in the ditch running under Old Towne Rd. and into the lake. This is to be done in December or January.
Linda reports that she found out we could not put in speed bumps on any of our streets, that Matt Nally will plant cattails on the lakeshore in the spring, and that the new trees on the lake are being watered for the first three weeks.
The proposal that she, Don, and Carol made regarding the function of a Block Watch Committee is that this needs to be discussed at the Annual Meeting October 16.
Don brought information about cordless, portable security cameras that may be moved around the subdivision to help monitor suspicious activities. Don is also checking on "credits" we should be receiving from MSD because we help maintain a retention. basin.
New Business:
Additional property to maintain - Charles, Jimmy, and Bob met with a Health Department official (Matt Vanderpul) who informed us we must bushhog 6 acres of land at the end of Old North Church Rd. and treat it for mosquitoes (cost $1,000 for 200 pellets) by placing pellets in standing water puddles. The pellets must be put out next March. Later, we must contract for drainage work to be done on this property, unless it is declared a wetlands area. Tim moved and Bob seconded that we contract A & G Lawncare to bushhog the 6 acres, at a cost of $300. The motion passed.
Newsletter - September 18 we will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Charles's house to pick up and then distribute our next newsletter. Vicki will prepare this.
Neighborhood Yard Sale October 2.
