Present: Linda Duncan, Vicki Welch, Donnie Faulkner, Mark Osborn, Bob Davison, Billy Vincent, Martin Rothman, Aaron Johnson
Absent: Murry
The minutes from the March meeting were approved, as was the Treasurer's Report (Bob moved; Marty seconded - all approved). As of March 23, we have $38, 453.52 as our bank balance.
Old Business:
Donnie checked on having our long streets "grooved" at intersections or having Rumble Strips laid at intersections, and he was told grooves are icy in the winter (too dangerous) and Rumble Strips are always noisy.
Donnie then signed us up for speed humps through the Department of Public Works. These may cost us some money, but the humps should slow down our speeders. No definite date for installation has been set.
Mark looked in to the cost of muskrat removal by various individuals / businesses (Critter Control - $399 per month; Animal Ridders - $79 set-up fee and $45 per muskrat.) Vicki checked with P & R, and they said they had a man who would get rid of these critters "for fun." P & R will assess the extent of our problem on their next cutting and get back with us.
The new fence along Mr. Johns' property line is completed.
New Business:
From now on, our monthly Block Watch meetings will be held just prior to our monthly maintenance association meetings, where residents can come share Block Watch information and leave afterwards. May will be our first attempt at combining these two.
Lake Clean-up Day will be June 3, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the sidewalk on Old Towne Rd. Linda will get this scheduled with Operation Brightside. Mary Byrne is now our contact with Brightside.
Our next newsletter will contain a reminder about the Lake Clean-up date, a listing of a Hotline phone number for reporting tips on observed crime / vandalism (Southend Answering Service will provide us with a line for various neighborhood communications at a cost of $15.00 per month), the prospect of having some speed humps put in, a congratulatory note on how many residents have paid annual dues this year, a note about the new trees coming in the fall along National Turnpike, a note about Dixie Sanitation, and more. The newsletter should be ready by the end of May.
Adjourned: 8:25 p.m.
Next meeting - May 17 - 7:00 p.m. - Epiphany UMC
