Present: Board of Directors Charles Owen, Linda Duncan, Donnie Faulkner, Vicki Welch, Martin Rothman, Bob Davison, Mark Osborn, Murry Harral, Billy Vincent. Others present included residents of the neighborhood, separate list.
Budget 2009 - A question arose on what was done with the money the state highway department gave YNMA to replace trees it was assumed would have to be removed during the widening of National Turnpike. Charles reports that that money may be a part of our present CD worth $21,103. (We presently have a bank balance of $25,453 in addition to the CD.)
So far, 19 trees have been replaced along National Turnpike, with 19 more to be planted this fall. Motion to accept the budget made by Pam Ulrich, seconded by Doris Coleman; passed.
Lakes - Charles reported that bids are being taken by MSD for the rip-rapping project for the north and west banks of the front lake. This is to be done soon.
Election of Directors and Alternates - Martin, Vicki, and Bob Davison, whose terms expire this year, were re-nominated by Bobby McMitchen to serve another three-year term. All three were unanimously re-elected.
Alternates Aaron Walters, Allen Church, Bill Morris, Carol Kidd, Jan Hardy, and Ken Balz were also nominated by Bobby McMitchen, seconded by Pam Ulrich; approved.
Hotline - Linda reminded residents to phone the Hotline number when the Alert sign is posted in the islands. The number is 367-3882. The Hotline notice occurs when something needs to be communicated quickly to all neighbors. Calls to the number enable residents to leave information for the directors.
Street-cleaning curbs - It was suggested that, since all residents do not clean the curbs in front of their own homes, the Board of Directors consider hiring a street-cleaning service for once-a-year cleaning. Charles referred this proposal to the November meeting.
Damage to fence - A large tree fell from the property of Mr. Irv Johns, striking and breaking our fence. It was recommended that we ask Mr. Johns to repair the broken fence P&R will remove the tree on the lakeside. We will call Penrod fencing to get this section repaired in case Mr. Johns does not take care of this in one month. A lien will also be placed on his property if he fails to do the fence repair.
Dues - Charles reports that last year 100% of dues were collected, thanks to his informing late fee payers that they will have to pay a $200 late fee, the $192 annual fee, and a $70 court fee for being taken to small claims court.
Mowing trailers parked on the street at entrance - Charles will contact the mowers (not our P&R) who are parked on the Sam street entrance while they mow for other property owners.
Block Watch - Several lights have been vandalized, mailboxes torn down, and bands of kids reported for roaming after curfew. Call police when you see suspicious activity at a house.
Signs - We will be evaluating the condition of our street signs, preparing to replace them over the next year.
Lake-end of Old North Church Rd. - Vicki will tell police to check lake end of Old North Church Rd. where people are parking their cars there until they get home from work, at night.
Officer Scott Sturgeon, our neighborhood Resource Officer, lost his house to a fire last week.
