Yorktown North Maintenance Association

Minutes for August 11, 2005 Meeting

Aug 18, 2005

Present: Charles Owen, Vicki Welch, Linda Duncan, Mark Osborn, Martin Rothman, Bob Davison, Donnie Faulkner, Chris McCorkle (alt. for Carol Kidd)

Absent: Carol Kidd, Tim Hardy

Guests: P & R Landscaping reps William Wisdom and Jeff May

These gentlemen attended tonight to present their bids for the landscaping of our entrances and for our Christmas decorations. They will also work up a bid on snow removal at the entrances.

The Landscaping Committee (Mark, Tim, Vicki, and Carol) will review all bids on landscaping and make a recommendation at the September Board meeting.

Minutes for the JUly meeting were read and approved, as was the Treasurer's Report (Bob, Donnie - all approved). Bob reported that the $10.30 monthly charge from the water company is the meter reading fee from which we are not exempt, even now. The bank balance as of July 26 is $55,735.85.

Old Business:

Muskrats - Carol was not able to report on the status of our trapping endeavor since she was not able to attend tonight.

Streetlight at the end of Old North Church Rd. - Tim has already signed the contract to have this installed. Linda or Mark will check with him about getting this accomplished.

Fencing - Mark is to contact Penrod fencing company and tell them to put our front lake's fencing on their schedule. They will be tearing out the old split-rail fence and replacing it with a four-rail hardwood fence, completing one/third of the fence this year, one/third next, and one/third the following year, as called for in our budget.

Banners - Bob is having the torn banners (displayed along National Turnpike) repaired. Banners will be moved three feet higher on the poles after the sidewalk is poured along Nationl Turnpike.

Phelps Hardware - Charles set up the charge account with Phelps, having given the names of the nine directors to Phelps. Directors will be able to charge small hardware items as needed, not to exceed $300 in a month's time.

Block Watch - Minutes for the August 4 BW meeting were distributed, as was the incident log we have been keeping on times the police have been called to our neighborhood. This log was faxed to Officer Larry Smith. We also included some events that did not involve police, just to give him a little broader picture of what has been happening in our neighborhood. He and Officer Cambron will be attending our next BW meeting.

As requested by these officers, Linda did contact Yorktown Baptist Church to let them know that their outdoor basketball courts were attracting some undesireable characters. The church secretary took note of our report but said that the parking lot, even without courts, would still be a gathering place.

Lake rocking - We are still waiting for Ron Weston to arrange a meeting with Perry Clark at the lake to explore state funding aid to help us put rock around this detention / retention basin.

New Business:

Newsletter - The September newsletter will be prepared following our next meeting. It will contain a reminder about the scooters, the neighborhood yard sale in October, the Annual Meeting in October, our new fencing project, the new bridge, Block Watch information, our landscaping choice, and anything else we can add.

Our streetcleaning service will be discussed in September, as will the cost of renting Yorktown Baptist Church for our Annual Meeting.

Adjourned: 9:05 p.m.
Next meeting - September 8 - 7:00 p.m. - Ramino's
