About Our Association
Hello Neighboor, The Regent Square Resident''s Neighborhood Association is a no dues, all (permanent) residents eligible group. We''ve been in existence for 3 years and meet simi-regularly. The purpose of our group is to improve and maintain our neighborhood. Forming the group has helped us to accomplish many things, like: Getting a stop sign on Regent Planting 30 trees Starting a street repaving program (one street has been done with 5 more to go) Hosting a great block party with live music and food. Providing representation at zoning hearings. Attendance at two hearings helped to stop the installation of another cell phone tower and was benificial in establishing conditions on the building on 8831 Venice (currently occupied by Gateway Hospital). These conditions were added to reduce the nuisance situations caused by this buildings past and current use. And getting funding for the new REGENT SQUARE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION signs. Our meetings are usually attended by city council representatives and police officials. Some of the meetings deal with specific issues and some are held to just give everyone a chance to talk about what they want to see happen in the neighborhood. If you want to be active in the group, get a meeting going or just speak your mind post it on the community feedback portion of this site. And look for flyers and signs announcing upcoming meetings. Most meetings are held at the little church on Cattaragus and Robertson Place. Get involved, it''s fun REGENT SQUARE RESIDENTS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION is also part of a larger umbrella organizaiton called SRO. SRO is our Neighborhood Council and is composed of 5 other neighboring groups. Neighborhood Councils are newly formed and under the new city charter. These councils will in the future be very helpful to neighborhood improvement and preservation projects.
