Presently, I'm the Assistant Artistic Director for Arena Players Inc.

I graduated from Morgan State University in 1998 with a BA in Theatre, and in
2001 I received an MFA from the New School for Social Research (Actors Studio Drama
School). After graduating from The New School, in collaboration with my peers from the
Actors Studio, I formed a not-for-profit educational theater organization called Project
PLAY (Put Life Ahead of You). Through the medium of theatre, we cultivated
confidence, determination and perseverance in youth who live in underprivileged
communities in New York City.

I returned to Baltimore in 2005 to work as a full time lecturer at Morgan State
University and since then I've been a facilitator and major "catalyst" in bringing together
diverse segments of the performing arts community. I've initiated working relationships
among students from Morgan, Coppin, Towson, UMBC, Goucher and Loyola who
generally have not worked together previously. This has been accomplished through
various productions and an increased number of staged readings that provide
opportunities for younger theatre students of varying backgrounds to work alongside
more experienced professionals. I've also created opportunities for emerging arts
organizations from diverse segments of the Baltimore performing arts community to work
together on projects. Furthermore, as the head administrator for Run of the Mill Theater,
I've built upon the company’s initiative to explore work of Hispanic, Latino and African American playwrights. When creating collaborative community projects I've successfully
avoided gender and racial stereotyping.

When it comes to community outreach, I've had the opportunity to work with
several Art Education groups in Baltimore as the lead theater consultant (BELL-Building
Educated Leaders for Life, Young Audiences of Maryland, Unchained Talent and Bright
Starts-School 33). I’ve worked in the classroom and at community centers. My
experience has led me to believe the only approach to effective arts programming is an
aggressive team oriented approach.
