1999 PRESIDENT

Speaking personally, I am very pleased to serve as one of the officers of the Bachman / NW Hwy Community Association, as it has affords me the opportunity to meet and work with so many people that help make positive changes in our neighborhood.

COMMITMENTS

As an officer and as an individual, I am committed to helping improve our community by

a) working with the Northwest Police Department to help reduce crime and to increase good will between police and community;

b) working with Code Compliance to clean up our area

c) working with Park & Recreation to develop more community programs for Bachman;

d) working with DISD to implement 'stay in school' programs and expand the after school program;

e) working with the community to help determine what issues are most important and help find ways to resolve those issues and improve quality of life.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

All of us realize that children are our future. Most of us procrastinate in starting projects that we know are needed, but perhaps require more time and energy than we feel we have to offer. In the meantime, the children are growing and their time to receive the attention they need is passing.

For some programs, we need only that you voice your support, in order to show that the neighborhood is in agreement. A simple email will accomplish the task. There! It's as easy as that to get involved! With less than five mintues invested, you have helped the neighborhood receive items such as sidewalks at Saldivar, or a summer daycamp program, or an after school program! Oh, it feels so good!!

If you have four or more hours per month to invest, you can help work with one of the programs, such as assisting with field trips to the movies, or skating rink, or school socials; or you could assist in the day camp or after school program. Please keep in mind that you can always try it for one time. There is no contract to sign or permanent commitment involved.

If you're really interested, you could help create new activities for kids. We desperately need to help find alternatives for gangs, teen pregnancies, school dropouts and juvenile crime.

Each one of us can help make a difference.
