We welcome newcomers

We, Mac and Janie, have been a part of Davis Islands since before we moved here in 1967.
Mac is a founding member of the Davis Islands Yacht Club and a past commodore-twice. He was the first DIYC member to bring the Houston Wall Memorial Trophy home. Mac recently choose not to run again for board position, but was honored by fellow directors--when he became a Director Emeritus. He will retain his chairmanship of two committees.

Becoming residents

Janie became active in DICA in 1975 when it was a year old.Mac became a board member--later president.When new By-Laws prohibited couples from serving, Janie became the first Life Member of DICA and has recently become a Director Emeritis. She and Mac,if they choose, can serve as chairs of the board or in other capacities.

Fighting crime

In 1981,DI was plagued by a rash of burglaries,so
Janie, with the help of TPD and many good residents formed DI Neighborhood Watch.They were
''hands on''active and the crime rate came down.From '81through'90 DI Neighborhood Watch
earned many awards-from the mayor,TPD,Bucs,etc.etc.Since '90 DINW has had ten leaders.
