Jerry and Sandy Payne: We have lived in Harvest Hills South since March, 1988 and yes we have been very comfortable here. We live on DeBar Circle, a wonderful cul-de-sac where our grandchildren have learned to ride bikes, skate boards and have great friends they have grown with. Our DeBar Circle neighbors are a wonderful group of people who are always there if we need them and great fun to spend time with. We have established several traditional cook-outs such as our annual Crawfish Boil each May, 4th of July cook out, Halloween trick or treat together, Christmas Dirty Santa party. We also watch all of the OU and OSU football games together and usually have some sort of cookout for each event. Superbowl is another great evening. Of course we all come together for our annual May Garage sale.
Jerry retired first from the OKC Police Department and later from the Oklahoma Army National Guard after 20 years of service, the last 16 years in full time status. I retired from Oklahoma Employment Security Commission as a Program Manager, managing several employment service offices throughout the Oklahoma City metro area as well as Business Manager for Oklahoma County working to recruit numerous large businesses who made a sucessful move to the Oklahoma City area.
About four years ago I became the Block Captain Chair Person for Harvest Hills South Neighborhood Association and served in that capacity until spring, 2011 when I became President.
I encourage all to make the effort to get to know your neighbors, consider volunteering for one of our areas of need such as baking cookies for our neighborhood meetings, watering, trimming and cleaning the beds at our entrances, Neighborhood Night Out celebration or other activities that may come up.
