This sort of assumes that we are one, which we are not. We have been a rather looseknit, get together once in awhile when social or other issues in the neighborhood pull us together. But, we might through this tool, be able to communicate a little more with each other and actually plan some neighborhood events, block parties, block garage sales or other activities together.
There are some things coming up that we might chat about a bit on this. Here are some things that I have been thinking about, please add yours
a) This webpage capability
b) Registering with the City as a Neighborhood Watch Group.
c) Revitalizing our emergency preparedness plan
d) Undergrounding - I would like to understand it better.
I have been working with the City of Berkeley for about 9 months now as the Project Impact Coordinator -- a Federal program to boost our efforts to make our cities more disaster resistant. This is a prevention program that places home retrofit/strapping/bracing/buckling/latching way up on the priorities of emergency preparedness. I have learned about the City's incentive programs and have a number of brochures that we are getting out to neighborhoods on hazard reduction techniques. A Project Impact webpage can be accessed on the City's Web Page: Here is the address, there is lots of information about disaster readiness and other city info there. Please add great websites that you think the Acton Street neighbors might be interested in.
