ARMA International Conference 2000
by Christian Savine
This year's ARMA International Conference was a smashing success. Over 5,270 records and information management professionals came together in Las Vegas for the ARMA 2000
Conference and Expo, October 23-26. As with previous con-ferences, there was a large vendor showcase that featured more than 170 exhibitors providing information on hundreds of products and services.
The conference began Saturday and Sunday with educational sessions dealing with records and information management fundamentals. The main conference began on Monday and was organized around broad themes. With over 70 educa-tional
sessions, there was something for everyone. Topics
included dealing with electronic records, paper and electronic records storage, records schedules, management skills, giv-ing
presentations and preparing for the CRM exam.
The awards presentation was a chance to relax and network with other attendees. Awards were presented to individual members and chapters for their accomplishments. The evening was highlighted by a show featuring celebrity imper-sonators.
In addition to the varied educational sessions, networking opportunities, and product demonstrations, the city itself was
an attraction. The wonderful entertainment offered by the night life and the endless rows of slot machines were a welcome, if expensive, distraction for busy conference attendees.
For those who missed this year's fun in Las Vegas, do not worry. ARMA is going to do it again next year in Montreal.
