What is the Alvarado Auxiliary?

The Alvarado Auxiliary is composed of AHMC/SDRI volunteers. The Alvarado Auxiliary is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist with the non-medical needs of the patients in an effort to improve their mental well-being and physical comfort.

The Alvarado Auxiliary, which was created over 30 years ago, has actively raised funds for philanthropic endeavors as well. For example: grants to uninsured/underinsured Alvarado cancer patients; funding for the Chaplain's Program; scholarships for active student volunteers; specialty teddy bears for open heart patients; donations to the Home Health and Therapeutic Recreations Departments; and MANY, MANY MORE!

The Benefits of Volunteering

AHMC/SDRI staff appreciates the contributions of our volunteers, therefore the following benefits are provided: complimentary meal in the cafeteria before or after a volunteered shift; 10% discount on Gift Shop purchases on most gift items greater than $3; free parking; and numerous awards and social events.

Each volunteer is an integral part of the hospital team. The following are some of our volunteer opportunities: information desk, gift shop, surgical waiting room, food and nutrition services, therapies, medical records, distribution, various office settings, patient care, and arts & crafts.
