The Post members and supporters are asked to participate in a 2-part operation to bring the importance of the Legion's patronage to the attention of the retailers.
PART ONE: Get a packet of "Thank you for your support" business cards from the Tavern Representative. Keep them with you. As you shop, frequent restaurants or interact in any financial way with retailers; GIVE THEM A CARD.
PART TWO: Put the name of the retailer, or your receipt in the jar located in the Tavern. These are the vendors we will primarily target for donations and financial support for the many community projects we sponsor.
HELP US MAKE THE POWER OF THE VETERAN'S DOLLAR BE RECOGNIZED, BE RESPECTED AND BE SUPPORTED. WE ARE A SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL INFLUENCE.
The Auxiliary presented a request to the retailers of the Mall St. Matthews, seeking help with the Annual Children's Christmas Party. We were in need of wrapping paper and bags.
HAROLD'S came to the rescue, with a large commercial role of beautiful paper. The Mall St. Matthews Management followed with a case of Mall St. Matthews Shopping Bags. Together, they became the team that saved Christmas.
Their generosity, allowed the funds of the Auxiliary to go towards much needed items to complete the "Miracle of Christmas" for so many children of the service men and women of the Armed Forces, and the local orphanage.
The Zachary Taylor Post would like to showcase St. Matthews during the upcoming Winter Conference Jan. 24 & 25, 2003.
With the help of the retailers and Management of the Mall St. Matthews, through their donations of gifts and gift certificates, that will be distributed as door prizes at the Conference.
This combined project will bring American Legion and Auxiliary members from all over the Commonwealth to St. Matthews to shop, visit our Post and enjoy the marvelous ammenities of our City of St. Matthews and the Mall.
This is but one way of giving back a little to the community that has given so generously to us. ST. MATTHEWS REMEMBERS IT'S VETERANS AND WE SALUTE YOU.
