I have wanted to live in Highview for many of years. I currently live in Okolona, which has decline drastically in the past 20 years I have been there. I am now reconsidering a move to Apple Valley or Highview in general. Low income housing is what destroyed Okolona's home values. And by the way, I am a African American, so there is no racial malice behind this. Policitians know what low income housing does to a community, that is why they are never built them in the communities they live in. I was a supportor of Mayor Fischer, but now I see him as just another politicans pandering votes from the poor at the expense of hard working people. This is a fight the residents of Highview cannot afford to loose. If Mayor Fischer can convince me that low income housing does not bring drugs, crime, and lost of businesses and home values I will reconsider my stance on this subject. If grouping large groups of low-income people in one area was so successful, why did the city tear down so many Projects?
Residents of Highview stand strong and don't give up!!! We all cannot offord to live in Prospect.
