care of the neighborhood

Posted in: Asheford Crossing
I'm bothered that I pay my dues, and we have neighbors that do not take care of their homes and yards. For instance, there is a house that has literally duct taped their mailbox together, that looks real nice. I also do not understand why people cannot pressure wash their homes, some are dripping in mildew. If I am going to pay my dues, and on time, it would be nice to have something done about homes that do not do their share to keep up the look of the neighborhood.
I agree....

I agree with you 100%! When we first moved into this neighborhood it seemed that everyone took care of their house and property. Now it seems that this subdivision is going downhill fast! It doesn't suprise me at all that a lot of people are selling their homes. The few people who care about their property and neighbors will never get the money back out of the house because the property value seems to keep going down. From what I can tell, we're paying 125$ for mulch in the entrance. Maybe I'm going about this all wrong.....maybe I should just park every car I own on the street, never cut my grass, and never fix anything that is broke!

visit Piccadilly Square sometime

I've been perusing the various HOA webpages under this parent website, and I just created the pages for my subdivision, Piccadilly Square (about 3-1/2 miles north of you folks). I bought there in December 2003, and I've regretted it from about the second week of my residency. This subdivision is going to hell in a handbasket and it is close to impossible to get our Association (and our Association's attorney) to enforce any of the CCR's. The result is that on every block here you've got from one to four homes occupied either by (a) tenants with out-of-the-area landlords, both of whom don't give a damn; (b) low-income types who can't afford your subdivision; or (c) original owners who've been here since it was built in 1986 and who feel they can do whatever they please, whenever they please. I have done nothing but call the Police, call animal control, come out of my house screaming at violators, threaten our Association with legal action for nonenforcement of the covenants, and even threatened disciplinary action against the license of our attorney for failure to perform his duties to enforce. It's been a living nightmare. I should've bought in Hermitage, but found more square footage for my money here in Antioch. What a disappointment after moving here from Chicago...
