Audubon's mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.
Our national network of community-based nature centers and chapters, scientific and educational programs, and advocacy on behalf of areas sustaining important bird populations, engage millions of people of all ages and backgrounds in positive conservation experiences.
We are fortunate to have been accepted into The TogetherGreen Volunteer Program. Read our short newsletter to find out more.
Our goal is to plant native habitat, attract more birds and wildlife, and provide educational information to the public using attractive signage identifying the native birds, plant species, and migratory wildlife that one could expect to see there. This is a native habitat installation project on approximately 8.5 total acres.
The Audubon Society of Central Oklahoma has proposed a project to the US Corps of Engineers, US Fish and Wildlife, and The City of Edmond. The project would be at Lake Arcadia located east of Edmond, Oklahoma. The proposed project involves building a Bald Eagle Viewing deck and an Educational Kiosk on the shoreline of the lake.
The purpose of the kiosk would be to educate the public about the history of the Bald Eagle
and encourage the appreciation of the fact that Lake Arcadia is host to Bald Eagles during their migration every year.
Not all lakes in Oklahoma can claim that fact.
