I am by no means perfect in any way, but I would like tell everyone exactly what took place while I was president.

First it wasn't easy to get everything together nor did I expect it to be. We spent the first 4 months of our term getting things setup and collecting dues and had 100% precipitation. I also spent over 300.00 of my personal money to get things since we didn't have the funds for supplies and a Yard of the Month sign. During this time friendships with some of the board members were dissolved due to gossip and innuendo. After the dissolving of friendships, these members failed to show up for meetings, so when the members that were present agreed to do something for the neighborhood the other board members would cause a split vote and nothing could happen. When we had tree cut down in the front, I was blasted for not letting them know, that wasn't the case at all. We tried to let them know what our intension were, and never heard back from them. The reason the tree was cut down was because it posed a threat of falling and possible hurting someone. We all agreed at one of the meetings to fix the cul-de-sac up on Purple Martin because of a homeowner parking an eighteen wheeler on it. I stated that I would supply the dirt from the erosion being dug out from behind my home which I was responsible for. It was also agreed that the board would supply the sod once I put the dirt down. In fact someone else wanted the dirt to cover their culverts, but I explained to them that I had promised to put the dirt for the cul-de-sac and if they would wait 2 weeks I would give them the dirt from the pool. After it was all done the some members of the board didn?’t want to spend the money for sod. The new board took over and I was sent a letter stating that I was in violation of 8.5 of the restrictions, and when I responded to the board that it was agreed by the past board to lay sod. They responded saying that they asked the former board members if it was true and they said that it wasn?’t. So I was held accountable for it, and it was agreed that I pressure wash the street to remove the dirt and buy 2 palettes of sod to put around the edge of the cul-de-sac and the existing board would finish putting the rest of the sod, now I will ask everyone did they follow-up with their end of the agreement?

To answer another question about why I haven?’t offer to be part of the existing board to help out? When our Vice President and Director of Committees stepped down I called and asked if help was needed and was told, no the board was going to run as it is. When the day arrive for the lake clean-up I was out of town, but my children were there helping and a week prior to that I had sprayed both lakes with 2/4 D and put sulfur sulfate to kill the green slim due to no movement in the lake. I also pulled grass from the lakes edge as well.

I want to also state that from day one in moving in Audubon Trace I have put pride in living here. I along with a select few of neighbors have given countless hours cutting the grass at the entrance and the cul-de-sacs pulling grass and offering to help anyone that has needed help.

We do not choose our last names but I pride myself with the fact that I have given to this neighborhood and my neighbors unselfishly.

Former & Current Board Memeber

Fred,

I have to say you have a warped memory about what went on with the previous board. If we are setting the record straight lets hear from both sides ie... Mine ...

I agree that you spent money out of your own pocket how much I don't know... It wouldn't surprise me if it was 300 or more... I know myself spent at least that much between placeing flowers up front and buying supplies for printing etc... so I agree the previous board came out of pocket on alot of stuff. And did alot of good.

However, It was NEVER... I repeat NEVER... discussed that you would put the dirt from your pool on that cul-de-sac.... It however was discussed that something needed to be done about it to prevent people from parking on it but a vote was never taken nor even a suggestion of e-mail made to discuss you putting the dirt on the cul-de-sac. (If anyone would like to see the minutes from the previous board they are all here for further verification)... As for the tree being cut down that was discussed... We were going to get prices and decided on the best one at the next meeting... We got prices and YOU saw it fit to write the check and get it done with out us looking at all the figures... As for the break up of friendships from the board and people not showing up and causing a split vote... I dont' remember that... I remember if you didn't get your way you thought that it was personal. It never was business is business and if we felt like the board couldn't afford something (ie like a fountain)than you took it like we just didn't want you to have it... WHICH WAS NEVE THE CASE... So YOU left when things didn't go your way...

The board had very little money to start... Ms. Duke left us with nothing but trouble. I could go into the signing of the take over by yourself without anyone else present to discuss whether or not that would be a good Idea... but we both know where that would lead to...

Now with still very little money because people still are in violation and non payment of dues things are getting done... we can't afford to buy all the pretties right now so we buy a little at time and buy what is needed NOT what is wanted... In the future I hope that we can look like some of the other neighborhoods who's associations were started out correctly... but until then there are baby steps that need to be taken...

I truly wish you all the best but if your going to place blame on the previous board then you need to really take a long look at who stuck it out till the end and whom didn't.

Good luck to you...

Nikki
not buying it

I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that 4 board members (one of them being your apparent friend) teamed up and agreed to lie about discussing the cul-de-sac issue. Also, if it was discussed, shouldn't it be in the meeting minutes? Maybe our secretary could post the minutes to all of those meetings to clarify? It would be nice to hear all of previous board members' side also.

Also, after reading how much Mr Self gripes about the current board, it comes as no surprise that they didn't accept your offer with open arms to sit on the board when a vacancy became available. It seems to me that all you want to do is cause trouble, or make things better for your own personal gain.

Truth Be Known

I personally called Mr. Self and offered him the position of Director Of Committees. He turned it down.
