BACH STUDENT ACCOUNTS POLICY

POLICY: BACH STUDENT ACCOUNTS

Choir’s Parent Organization known as BACH (Ballard Association of Choral Harmonics) is a registered, tax-exempt non-profit 501(c)3 organization. All monies that are raised under the tax-exempt status of a 501(c)3 are to be used only for the purposes of that organization. Guidelines are regulated by the IRS and must be followed regarding any distribution of money in student accounts.

1) The IRS considers all monies raised through tax-exempt fundraising efforts (Kroger cards, Entertainment Books, Magazine Sales, Raffles, etc.) to be the property of BACH, and are to be used only for the purposes of that tax-exempt organization.

2) BACH maintains student accounts as a courtesy to the student. This enables the student to raise money towards trips that the choir may go on or to pay any fees that are owed to the choir.

3) If a student leaves the choral program, either during a school year, through graduation, or is asked to leave choir, all money raised by that student remains the property of BACH. Because of the tax-exempt status of the funds/fundraising, the student is NOT entitled to any refunds or able to transfer any money to organizations outside of the 501(c)3 organization (BACH).

4) If a student has a sibling that will be in choir the year following that students’ departure, the parent may request that the student’s account be transferred to the sibling, and those funds will be held for one year.

The ONLY funds that are refundable to a student are out-of-pocket funds paid directly by check or cash into a student trip account. Only refunds of out-of-pocket expenses are permissible under IRS guidelines. These funds are only refundable if a student cannot participate in the trip and requests/notifications of withdrawal meet specified deadlines for refund.
