MATTHEW A. DZIECIUCH, SCIENTIST AND ?“JOCK?”
Matt was born a Canadian, grew up in Michigan, is a naturalized Barberian and US citizen. Eight years ago he got his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, was hired by the UCSD and moved into the Barber Tract. A very good year for Matt.
Matt works for world famous Oceanographer Walter Munk in the Institute of Geophysical and Planetary Physics. These are the folks who have measuring devices and transmitters all over the Pacific which help us predict weather patterns.
Weekends may find Matt on the blue Pacific in his kayak, on his bicycle, swimming or creating something in his workshop. He was elected a Trustee at the last Membership Meeting and accepted the job of Membership Chairman.
MICHAEL TURBITT,
ENGINEER TURNED FURNITURE MAKER
Michael Turbitt was lured from Maryland to San Diego by the folks at Cubic that make ticketing machines for the subways of the world. He retired from the engineering world, lived in Mission Hills for a time and is now a Barberian who loves the neighborhood and the community spirit fostered by your association and the BTT.
He is engaged in community service work as a volunteer for Planned Parenthood and for a mentoring program sponsored by First United Methodist Church. He has a great workshop in his garage and is an amateur but skilled furniture maker. Michael was named a Trustee at last October?’s Membership Meeting. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland (BSME)
THOSE TWO-FOR-ONE GREENS
Like President Bill said when hustling votes back in ?’92, hire me and get Hillary too. Michael and Gloria Green consider themselves co-trustees. Pay for one. Get two. Such a deal! These good people and their daughters live behind that interesting Monte Vista gate and a wall covered with bougainvillea. In addition to the co-trustees, the Greens?’ place houses two daughters, Adrianna 23 and Megan 17. Adrianna graduated from Point Loma College and is working on her Master?’s Degree in Education at National University. She?’d like to teach at Bird Rock Elementary where she now works as a Teachers Aid. Megan is a Junior at Francis Parker and is an accomplished horse woman?—a jumper in some contests. Her horse Flash lives in Del Mar because we have no stables in the Barber Tract.
Gloria and Michael are ex-Zonies who have lived with us for thirteen years. Michael is a cofounder of Toro Aire, a manufacturers representative specializing in air conditioning equipment. Gloria has the most important job in the world, a full time parent and homemaker who takes some time off for golf.
YVONNE DUTTON/DANCER, LITIGATOR
Yes our new Trustee left home in Maryland for a career in Manhattan as a professional dancer. She made good use of her time by earning a bachelor?’s degree and her Juris Doctorate from Columbia University. In New York she was with the United States Attorneys Office fighting narcotics and organized crime. She married J. P. Morgan Investment Banker, Walter Fitsimmons. Together they opted for laid back San Diego and are now our neighbors.
Yvonne is a litigator with the firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, dealing in civil cases. Walter is with investment bankers, Pacific Corporate Group, both, unhappily, with offices downtown. They share a passion for the arts. They are both on the board of the Malashock Dance Company, a local group of dance professionals. It?’s good to have an attorney on the board who doesn?’t keep time when answering questions about association actions.
BLYTHE ROBINSON,
DOCTOR/GARDNER/GOURMET COOK
Yes, Dr. Blythe is all of those good things and one of our new Trustees too. What more could husband/attorney Todd want in a wife. Don?’t answer that! Doctor Robinson practices with an Anesthesiology Group at Sharp Hospital, Chula Vista. She is responsible for the great colors of the paint job on their home on Monte Vista at Belvedere. The great flowers are also her fault.
Todd met Blythe when they were in undergraduate school at Berkeley. Blythe went on to earn her M. D. at UCLA while Todd got his law degree from Georgetown. Todd is with the United States Attorney?’s San Diego Office, sending malefactors to the pokey. He is an avid ocean swimmer and has won the Gator Head competition (La Jolla Cove to Scripps Pier).
