I'm making a note here for the large pothole we have at the South West corner of Rawls and Hutchinson Roads.
This thing looks deep and wide enough to swallow a tire. It could easily cause a front end alignment problem if your car fell into it.
I'm going to try to make a note to myself to call the county roads and streets department today.

Traffic LIght coming soon!
I found out this week that we are getting a traffic light soon at our intersection at Rawls Rd. and Hutchinson Rd. I'm wondering what the pros and cons will turn out to be with this light. I'm not one that is usually in favor of more traffic lights but this one may be a good idea. I for one do not like sitting at long lights during time of low to no traffic. On the other extreme you have lights that are too short to turn during high traffic and you have a line of cars backed up and blocking other intersections where people can't move. I wish I had the time to organize a citizen task force to study traffic light timing and push for the county to install up to date timers and set the scheduling for different traffic times. I have not idea how these systems work other than some lights have timers and some have sensor wires under the roads, some have both I suspect. Another day I suppose. Maybe someone that works in this department for the county can shed some light on this?

Gates for our community
I happened to see four pickup trucks and several men doing some measuring around the Bella Vista entrance yesterday morning. I called Robb, our Board President and spoke to him about it. He replied that the Board was getting an estimate only and that this would be put before the membership to vote on at the annual meeting that is coming soon.
I for one am will be curious to see how much this will cost each resident.
I for one do not like to be held up for a gate to open when I want to get in somewhere let alone get out. I think our two entranceways to our community are too small for a gate system. It would cause backups onto Rawls road when trying to enter. It would be different if we had a long road into our entraceways that could handle several cars waiting to get in.
But, this is only my opinion and food for thought. Look for the annual meeting date on the calendar. That should be forthcoming. Stay tuned!

Pothole got one of us yesterday
Coming from the expressway and turning right onto Rawls road, a member of our family turned too soon and the right front wheel dropped off into the pothole on the edge of the road yesterday. I posted a week almost a week ago to make a note to myself to call the county road and streets department about the pothole on the opposite side of that road, I didn't know there was another condition as bad or worse on the other side. She not only got a flat tire but it bent the rim where it looks like it will need replaced. Not cheap I'm assuming also. Now I know I've got to make an effort to give them a call to get out here and fix this mess before anyone else ruins a tire or rim or both.
