Paul, I appreciate your time and thoughts however most home owners in Bella Vista do not maintain their own homes properly ie yards/driveways/paint etc. Do you really think they are going to contribute financially or time wise to a club house when they do not to their own??

No, you are right. I must have been dreaming when I posted this.  Innocent

well the foreclosure next to me cost 159 or so, so i was just saying i would rather dump 159 or so into gates instead of  a place to hang out......and that with insurance costing a fortune, from a premises liability standpoint,  it seemed risky.........

what do those gates cost anyway ?

I'd have to look into historical records but the gates were over $100k for both entrancways. Our past president Rob Van Name had gotten the quote for us on that. You can imagine how the board members eyes rolled on that one.

Until all the members of the board can get on the same page on improving this community and spending some money to do it, I don't think we'll have to worry about spending any money on gates or a clubhouse in the near future. Just so you know, the next expense for a project will be to re-do the landscaping at both entranceways, possibly getting a county grant to pitch in and we'll have to match what they give us. Either with labor or materials. It's been stated that the cost may be $2,500 but that's just an estimate. One thing at a time though. Can't rush anything around here. We have four board members each with their own ideas of what is what and at this point there is no consencious on what direction we're even going at this point. Stay tuned!

Oh, just to clarify things, my wife just looked up on her MLS system that the Ragusa house sold 2/23/2011 for $155,000. We had looked at it when it first went on the market and submitted an offer for $145k and were turned down. The original asking price was $139k. The wife says that $155k was a pretty good deal. I hope you got some new good neighbors and that they hurry up and get those paint splotches fixed on the front of the house. Not to mention the torn up yard.

We just had an eviction a couple houses down from us. A Vietnamese family had been moving out the last couple of days. Do you know they took the front door with them and left the house wide open? Our new president who happens to live right next door to the house and a neighbor went over and put up a tarp over the opening temporarily. Rich, our other neighbor has offered to bring a sheet of plywood tomorrow and the tarp will be replaced to make the house secure.

Isn't it great that we have some good neighbors watching out for our community and ready to come to the call of duty to keep things secure for us all. Do you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? I do.  Smile
