Amen!!
Thanks to Mayor Odom-Groh who came out today to see for himself what happens on our street daily during rush hour. He saw exactly what numerous residents on this block have seen and complained about for a long time. Now maybe we can get another speed hump at the point where Dorchester, Southampton, and North Chadwick intersect near the Moorgate entrance?
The above post was entered on December 8, 2011 documenting how long our mayor has been personally knowledgeable of the seriousness of the speeding problem on North Chadwick Road. In his own words in the item "Police Presence on North Chadwick" posted by Larry on the home page, he further acknowledged the problem. Residents on North Chadwick have been aware of the problem for years and years and did successfully petition the City Commission to put in speed humps. However, they did not put in the number that were recommended, consequently the humps are not as effective as the recommended number would have been.
Yesterday, at 5:00 pm, I saw one speeding driver come with inches of rear-ending a driver that was driving safely and slowed even more at the hump in front of 109/110. I see that happen several times daily. It would not be happening if there were a hump in front of 105/106. And oh by the way, the incident yesterday took place within a foot of two children standing in the grass. Even the most calloused of persons surely can see the need of additional speed humps. Ya think ...................????????
