City of Bellemeade

River Runs Through It Bellemeade Edition...

Posted in: Bellemeade - Bellemeade

I have been working with LG&E on improving our electric service and they have completed some of the things they said they would. The ice storm really set them back money wise. That should be improving now that they got the rate hike.

I will speak to the water company to see what can be done but I know that they have a LOT of issues with very old water mains all over Louisville.

The ice storm set them back money wise?  It set me back too, but I still had to meet my routine financial obligations.  Set them back?  You ARE kidding, aren't you?  They got a rate increase from PSC to offset some of their ice storm costs - I didn't get a pay increase.  Set them back!!!  They still posted a profit and paid dividends; their corporate execs got.  Bonuses!  None of us can claim an adversity as an excuse or reason to not take care of business; how can they?!>!?  Because we fall for their pour-mouthing.

The water company and LG&E were WRONG to not update their infrastructure on a preventative maintenance basis.  Now they are suffering?  WRONG!  We are.  And on top of that my water bill has quadrupled over the last 15 years.

{Some see things as they are, and ask, "Why?"  Others see them as they should be and ask, "Why not?"} George Bernard Shaw

He also said, "Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself."

"Life is what you make it."   me   Accordingly, if  circumstances are not acceptable and have been unacceptable for awhile, and I have not tried to fix them, then I deserve them..

Someone told me approximately 65 years ago that 10% of the people never do anything to make life better, 85% of the people will jump on any bandwagon they see, 5% will see what needs to be done and try to get it done.  I have found that life is MUCH BETTER if I try to stay in the 5%..

I refuse to accept flimsy excuses and poor mouthing.  (I saw that kitty cat said pour mouthing.  I wondered if she meant that as a play on words?)  If it is not broke, leave it alone.  If it is, fix it!

To do list:

   Update utilities delivery systems.

Stop reckless driving especially in residential areas.

Work together to stop the increases in crime, everywhere.

And on a bigger plane, we must start the repair process with a tiny spark , and

Insist that ALL parents support the education of their OWN children.  When that

happens, no child will be left behind.

Make true the part of the Preamble of our Constitution which says, "We the People of

the United States...." by reclaiming control of all of our levels of government from the

   lobbyists of Special Intrerest Groups.

Whoa...  Let's keep this to the point... I personally feel that we should band together to help the Mayor voice our request to improve the utilities here in Bellemeade, if others benefit, good.  Let's understand the limitations that the utilities feel they have and empower them to make it better.  Set backs happen, but we can push them to get after it, that is just how it works  Them leaving a HUGE orange sticky note with the Boil Water notice is ok, along with all the pink little flags along the street.  It happened at 3am (the notes left) so I am glad they did not knock or hit the doorbell, I would have come to the door wild eyed and crazy looking. :) I do think there could be a better communications used.... maybe this site? Some kind of texting when emergency happens, or an additionial format of "reach out".  I can not make the meeting tonight, but I am sure that the Mayor will take this in and help us get improved service, we win, the city wins.. and the utilities get happy (ier) customers.
