Loss of services

Has anyone else noticed that since merger we have received diminished services, or is it my imagination?  County government formerly trimmed and/or removed trees on North Chadwick.  The silver JCPD cars were visible in the neighborhood often.

Bellemeade paid for half of the cost of the speed humps and all of the cost of the stop signs on North Chadwick.  North Chadwick is still a Metro street, but I understand that Metro has refused to pay for repainting the stripes on them.  Bellemeade tax money is going to have to be spent on a Metro street ...????  Why?

Why is there little or no enforcement of traffic laws (speed and stop signs)?  Even though JCPS buses travel on Bellemeade streets, why does Bellemeade have to maintain them, ???  Why does it take months to get action on issues?  One resident has commented more than once that our power goes off often and stays off longer.  Why?

Why should Metro Council members have the so-called discretionary funds to dole out when there is a claim that there a shortage of funds?  If I were a Councilman, it is possible that I could strategically dole out that money to insure my re-election, just saying ...  I could buy a lot of gift cards for my constituents at Winn-Dixie.  Oh, Winn-Dixie is out of business?   So should that discretionary funds system be a thing of the past.  Accountability of government funds is critical, especially critical during hard times like we have now.

I am going to have to back off from part of my complaint here.  I just in the past half hour was informed by Councilman Ackerson's office that he had offered several weeks ago to get money allocated to repaint the speed humps, BUT his offer had not been accepted. I have no idea why not.  ??????

Also, there appears to be great confusion about spending the grant money even though a citizens committee headed by Mr. Bob Elliott took its recommendation to the Bellemeade City Commission in August.  There appears to have been a   l-o-n-g   delay in those recommendations reaching Councilman Ackerson, so I will have to withdraw my criticism of Metro there too.  I would have assumed that timing was critical because grant money has a way of going away first come first served.

Who dropped this ball?  We really need to know because somebody is costing us alot of money unnecessarily.  The way I see it, this is a competency issue.

That list was emailed to Councileman Ackerson on July 11 following the Commission meeting that Bob Elliott presented it.
