Folks, after reconsideration, I see very little point in arguing the businees about the new website or anything else in Bellemeade for that matter. I do consider it a slap in the face that the elected officials on our City Commission including the mayor have chosen to stiffle honest public discussion by creating a website with our tax money that they can control and keep the people who are paying for it off of it. I am certain that I heard it stated at a commission meeting that a public forum would be part of the new website - I now understand that the Commission has chosen to not allow citizens to post on the new website. That being the case, I have made my last visit there. Why does our Commission continually take two steps forward and then four steps backward?
I suggest that those of us who are neither afraid to state and stand by our opinions or hear others who take opposition to that continue to voice our concerns in the true America concept of Free Speech. Limited Government, and Popular Sovereignty on this site. The truth shall set you free. I might disagree with you all day long, but I will also defend your right to say what you think all day long.
At the moment, other than the point made above, very little in the way of controversy is readily apparent in our little city. Neighborhood Watch is alive and well as evidenced by the fact that a Block Captain issued an alert yesterday about heavy police presence in Bellemeade in the Tristan/Bellemeade Road area. That was commendable for Kevin to send the alert when he was not able to contact any of the Area Captains. Good job Kevin!
