Art & Music Section
Welcome to the Berkeley Public Library Art & Music Section
The scope of the music collection runs from Albinoni to Zouk -- on compact discs, cassettes, and vinyl records, plus a solid popular song collection, printed music scores and a range of books on music biographies, theory and performance. The jazz recordings collection is notable and staff are expanding holdings in world music. Art and Music also has the impressive Greenwood Press Collection of vintage jazz magazines, and a diverse collection of unabridged audobooks.
Art coverage ranges from the caves of Lascaux to the Pompidou Center. Art formats range from circulating art slides to a wide variety of monographs on individual artists and oversized ''folio'' books, brimming with color. Special attention is focused on developing an overall assemblage of art materials that reflect diverse cultures.
Also available are books on theater, film, television, sports, and recreation. Come by to browse, study, or check out what's happening on the cultural front around town.
