The Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association (BHNA) is actually BHNA, Incorporated. BHNA, incorporated is an incorporated entity applying for tax-exempt status that primarily services the area of the Bluff Heights Neighborhood in Long Beach. The Bluff Heights Neighborhood extends from Redondo to the east to Junipero to the west, 4th street to the north to Broadway to the south. It is also recognized by the City of Long Beach as an historic district, meaning that codes apply that help to preserve the architectural integrity of the mostly Craftsman and California Mission-style homes and buildings in the neighborhood.
The BHNA is a volunteer organization. There are no employees that work for the BHNA. The BHNA relies on the volunteer spirit of the neighborhood to provide the officers and the Board to accomplish its objectives. It relies on volunteer ideas, time and energy as its primary resources. The BHNA is designed to benefit the community in general primarily through education regarding community building, historic preservation, public safety, neighborhood beautification, and civic awareness.

The mission statement guides the focus and actions of the BHNA Board in its goal in benefiting the community through education regarding community building, historic preservation, public safety, neighborhood beautification, and civic awareness. Education for the community is provided through quarterly general membership meetings, quarterly newsletters, and community events and projects.
Here are the current objectives of the BHNA:
1. Organizational Integrity - Develop and operate a prominent, responsive and effective Neighborhood Association. Maintain regularly scheduled meetings of the BHNA Board to conduct association business and further Association objectives through consistent, structured processes and through systematic planning and measurement of actions to obtain objectives. Meet the structural and organizational needs of the BHNA as
an incorporated, not for profit, volunteer organization
2. Education - Teach and disseminate education to the public, including, but not limited to material related to community building, education, historic and architectural preservation, public safety, and neighborhood beautification
3. Communication - Communicate through Newsletters, flyers, e-mail, telephone campaigns, etc. issues of particular note or importance to the residents.
4. Responsiveness - Obtain input from the residents to formulate an organized approach to meeting the needs of the residents and the BHNA Board.
5. General Membership Meetings - Establish and carry out regularly scheduled resident meetings with various speakers and topics to include the interests of all residents.
6. Historic Preservation and Neighborhood Beautification - Actively pursue projects that enhance the reputation, beauty, safety, integrity, and the ever improving quality of life of the neighborhood
7. Volunteers and Recognition - Invite, encourage and recognize the contributions of the residents in achieving improvements in the neighborhood. Actively seek and achieve the participation of these residents to accomplish these objectives.
8. Neighborhood Character and Diversity - Promote and carry out, throughout the year, various social events to stimulate and recognize the
character of the neighborhood and its residents’ diversity, talent and collective contribution to the continuing improvement of the quality of life of the neighborhood
10.Civic Effectiveness - Maintain effective channels of communication with
the City of Long Beach, Long Beach neighborhood associations, the Horace Mann Elementary School and other entities and resources to enhance our effectiveness and strengthen our working relationships to further mutual goals.
