Jarrod Roecker, a resident of the Ridglea West neighborhood, contacted Councilman Chuck Silcox office to create a neighborhood association. With the help of Sandi Breaux and Brenda Silcox, fliers were made and volunteers were gathered to invite the people of this community to meet and organize this neighborhood. On Thursday June 23, 2005 the first meeting was held. The first Executive Committee elected was: Jarrod Roecker, President; Jennifer Staples, Vice President; Lu Copeland, Treasurer and Carolee Presley, Secretary. As of January 2006, the only change made to this committee is Carol Mendez replaced Jennifer Staples as Vice President.
A section of Ridglea West is now known as Bomber Heights. The name was changed to show our patriotism and reflect our history with military which uses the airspace above our neighborhood to land at the Joint Reserve Base.
Since Bomber Heights formed, several concerned citizens have come together to make our community a safer, cleaner place to live. We now have a Citizens On Patrol group that patrols the entire Bomber Heights/Ridglea West area. A Code Rangers group will soon be forming to help keep our neighborhood clean. Already the graffiti problem in our area is being reported on a constant basis and the City has done a great job of cleaning it up.
Bomber Heights Neighborhood Association meets the 3rd Monday of every month at the Ridglea West Baptist Church at 7:00. You are invited to be a part of a great group of people!
