The Boulevard Gardens is located in the east-central portion of the County. It is bordered on the north by Sistrunk Boulevard (NW 6 Street), on the east by NW 24 Avenue and the municipal boundaries of the City of Ft. Lauderdale, and on the south by Broward Boulevard and on the west by Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue (NW 31 Avenue).
The neighborhood is 238.74 acres according to the County=s geographic information systems data base.
In 2000, the population of Boulevard Gardens was 1,415 based on data from the U.S. Bureau of the Census for the Boulevard Gardens Census Designated Place. Of the total population, black non Hispanics represent 98 percent, with Hispanics, white non Hispanics, Native Americans and Asians comprising the remainder.
Based on census data, there are 451 households in Boulevard Gardens in 2000. This family oriented community has a relatively large young population with 29.9 percent of its residents less than 18 years old. Significantly, 43 percent of the households have children under 18 years of age, compared to only 32 percent countywide. This is consistent with an above average household size of 3.14 persons per household as compared to the countywide average of 2.34. Among the 118 families with children, 57.6 percent are single parent families. There is a smaller senior citizen population in Boulevard Gardens with 12.5 percent of the residents aged 65 years and older, compared to 16.8 percent in this age group countywide.
