Tom's My Man
Tom could easily be elected to any seat here in Braintree. He's a teddy bear in my eyes. Tom is Tom. He may be a likable guy who finally landed a paying job here in Braintree, but he should seriously consider declining reelection to BELD board. They will be under fire this year big time until they get it right. Qualified or unqualified, Tom will give it his best - for a while anyways.

How quickly we forget!!!
Tom was on the BOS that drove Ed Flynn out of town, was on the Board for the hiring of Bill Sweeney, then slinked away when the sh__ was about to hit the fan. He's been holding down a position on BELD for a while now and I know people who have issues with the activity dow there during his time on that board. He's applied for a number of positions that he wasn't qualified for in the past. He tried to apply for the executrive secretary's position the last time it was open but the search committee told himn he wasn't qualified. There was some politicla manuvering then to try to allow him to be interviewed. The only qualifiaction Tom has had for a number of these are that ''He's a Townie'', as is Tom Whalen. He's been trying to get a job for the town for some time now and this was the chink in the armor that allowed him in. That armor being the process that protects the taxpayer from nepotism within our government. Now, not all nepotism is bad, but this is the worst kind. To hire someone who is entirely unqualified for a leadership position will lead to at least a period of time that this department will be negatively impacted while he learns on the job and studies for his licenses. I think John MacMahon and Tom Whalen did a great disservice to the town and they ought to be made stand for their errors. By the way, where was the Board of Selectmen during all of this? Turning q blind eye? Someone ought to question their non-action as well. This is why we need a change of goevernment. Get rid of this bunch of losers and start fresh.

if what bernie said is true why in the world would the dpw director hire someone who is unlicensed oversome one who is? please can someone shed some light.
