Not everyone reads the Ledger - and can you imagine what the sound, vibration and additional black smoke would have been IF the ill planned demolition had been successful? This whole job - which D. Quirk has every right to do - was done poorly. Did anyone bother to notify any senior citizens? It IS his responsibility. There was supposed to be 48 hrs. notification. They chose to go forward come at their own risk - and they botched the job. Now, workers are at a greater risk to demolish what is half down. The whole point to this is DO THINGS RIGHT - and don't try to pull a fast one over everyone.

Info was available regardless
If that parent could find the time to complain on this message board, then they should manage to find the time to be informed as to what is going on. If they don't receive the Ledger, it's available online. Thats where I read it. Quirk's plans were not exactly a secret known only to him.
If that moronic Jessica Fargen can find out about it and turn it into the lead story then a reasonably intelligent parent should be aware of what is going on around their neighborhood.
The job was done poorly, no one is arguing that aspect. If there was supposed to be 48 hrs notice, and Quirk failed in that regard then the proper sanctions should be applied(if there is any recourse available), however the fact remains that the information was available to anyone interested.
As far as Heritage Lane is concerned does anyone know for sure, if the management company was notified, and if so, did they in turn notify their tenants?
My understanding is that the Quincy PB granted permission a while ago, and the implosions today were strictly on the Quincy side of the ship yard, not the Braintree side, which technically is within the guidelines set by the Braintree Planning Board.

Didn't read the Ledger
Because there was a 20 day appeal period, this parent did not expect Quirk to move this project forward until that period was over. At the Planning Board meeting Mr. Quirk's team was adamant that it would endager lives to take this down in two phases. Don't give the stupid Quincy side / Braintree side bullcrap either you moron! My mistake, I guess putting an article in the Ledger the night before qualifies as proper notification to implode a gigantic metal structure.
