The BrickStreet Arts Association was formally incorporated in Columbus in 2000 by a group of citizens interested in bringing public art and art activities to older, urban neighborhoods of Columbus
BrickStreet Arts Association is the only arts-related association in Columbus that holds as its primary mission the design and installation of public art. BrickStreet was founded to:
● Enhance a sense of community through art and by involving residents in the planning or creation of public art
● Organize the creation and installation of art to enhance the appearance and experience of living in urban neighborhoods.
● Encourage the creation of art that builds on the neighborhood?’s collective memory, defines distinct neighborhoods, and improves the quality of public spaces.
● Raise awareness of public art in the public realm.
BrickStreet Arts Association has an established history of successfully working with a variety of agencies and private foundations including the Ohio Arts Council, The Columbus Foundation, The Greater Columbus Arts Council, the City of Columbus, the Martha Walker Garden Club, and Godman Guild.
